About us
More than 5 years ago, when we acquired our 135-year-old country home, we decided to restore it using the same traditional materials that were used during its original construction. We were amazed to discover that many of the wooden structures had clearly been painted more than 135 years ago yet still retained their coating. These surfaces had been painted with linseed oil paint, which has been known for centuries.
During the restoration, we tried various linseed oil paints available in the Latvian market. We noticed significant issues with many of them—they cracked, yellowed, dried unevenly, and failed to protect the wood from mold and UV rays. Additionally, many of these linseed oil paints contained solvents and stabilizers.
After many trials and experiments over several years, we discovered Allbäck linseed oil paints from a Swedish manufacturer. With over 30 years of experience in linseed oil paint production, Allbäck combines centuries-old knowledge with modern scientific research through partnerships with the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.
Allbäck linseed oil paints are widely used in the Nordic countries and other parts of the world, where weather conditions are even harsher than in Latvia—high rainfall, humidity, and extreme temperature variations. They have proven themselves excellently in Latvia as well. Allbäck linseed oil paints have also been used in the restoration of the Palace of Versailles and the Danish Royal House, as well as in the restoration of hundreds of historic buildings in the Nordic countries.
Our company values are rooted in offering sustainable, environmentally, and health-friendly solutions through Allbäck’s natural linseed products. Our philosophy is to help preserve and restore historical heritage while promoting sustainable modern construction using natural and health-friendly materials.
